Murphy's Law
My day started going downhill when I walked into a lecture from the assistant news director at 9:15 in the morning. Of course, she wasn’t lecturing about me, but to the newsroom as a whole. Still, I don’t like lectures, thus drowning my good mood.
Even though I was spoken to in a firm voice for no good reason, my story went very well. I’ve made friends with a couple police...

#MorningCrew
Wanted ya’ll ;) to know I got up at 2:30 AM this morning. Not to catch a flight or get a snack from the kitchen… No, no.
I got up at 2:30 AM to hop in the shower before I headed to work. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what it feels like to work for morning TV. This is what it feels like to run on 4 hours of sleep.
Also, it’s just past 5 AM now and I swear to god I want a burger....

About 20 minutes before the show tonight … I noticed on Tumblr a link to Mitt Romney saying “Kim Jong the Second” and a report on how a public figure made a mistake that huge because it’s not “the second” …it’s pronounced “Ill.”
Well, I would like to confess I was 100 percent going to say Kim Jong the Second until I saw that link.
So,...

An acceptance speech
The audience grows quiet as all 50 states and guests from the nation patiently sit and wait to hear the big announcement. The man of the hour stands at the podium with a sealed envelope in his hands. All eyes are on him.
“And the winner is…”
Tension is high as everyone in the audience sits on the edge of their seat.
“MISSISSIPPI!!!!”
The crowd goes wild as...

The truth about journalists
…. FOUND THIS SITE AND HELLOOOOO! I don’t fall in every category, but most of it is dead on.
8. We have a “breaking news” mentality, so if we are driving and we get a little upset the person is not turning on that green arrow fast enough, it’s not road rage (well, it could be), it’s that we want to get where we are going faster. (People in Mississippi don’t honk. But because...

As I’m watching Bachmann talking everyone up, I’m wondering how long it’ll take for equal representation. Three men and three women fighting for the GOP and Democratic spot respectfully.
8 more years?

The debates are live from my University’s auditorium this evening …
If you knew how small that place was in real life you would realize how magical this production is. Wish I was there in Des Moines.

A dying town
Sitting with my coworkers, enjoying a cocktail last evening … we got on the topic of this “town” we all live in. Particularly how sad it is. The only people who live here and enjoy living here are people who were born and raised. No one moves here and stays. People may move here for a year or two for a job, but then leave as quick as possible.
This town is so run down it’s...
barnardigan asked: Also, regarding the cake (which I just found with a little more searching through your blog, I got a little tripped up by the Southern Living post): it is ABSOLUTELY worth baking. It was probably one of the best things I have ever baked. My family loved it and it was the perfect Thanksgiving dessert. Something special that I did was frost between each layer with both caramel and chocolate, which...
